Millennials are the economic driving force in today’s market and their impact will continue to increase over the next 10-15 years. Millennial’s values are different than previous generations. As a result, the products and services that were successful for past generations are no longer resonating with the Millennial audience.

What is Human-Centered Innovation (HCI) and how can it help us innovate for millennials? Innovation can be incremental or radical. Radical innovation lies at the intersection of technology invention and deep meaning for the consumer. It’s tricky but where real enterprise value is built. Only by understanding the values of the people we are creating for can we design something truly meaningful.

The discovery phase – building empathy: The first phase of HCI is discovery, where we dig in to the problem, context, and people in the ecosystem. During discovery, developing understanding is developed through building empathy with the audience. In this webinar we explore what empathy is, what it enables, and why it’s so important in HCI.

Divergent thinking – what is it? In webinar three we introduced divergent and convergent thinking as part of the HCD Double Diamond model. In this session we explore these further. We discuss how divergent thinking relates to creativity, and how we can flex our divergent thinking muscles to create the conditions for radical innovation to flourish in our business.
